Nevada couple blame Internet for neglect – Yahoo! News

Apparently these two eggplants were too busy playing “Dungeons and Dragons” online to bother feeding or bathing their children.

The children of Michael and Iana Straw, a boy age 22 months and a girl age 11 months, were severely malnourished and near death last month when doctors saw them after social workers took them to a hospital

At least they were found guilty of two counts of child neglect each. I can only hope that the sentencing judge sends them away to a real dungeon for the maximum 12 years.  And I hope everyone in their cellblocks knows exactly who they are and what they did.

Sure, they starved and dehydrated the kids, but they did allow the 11 month old – who weighed 10 pounds upon discovery – to play with the family cat:

Police said hospital staff had to shave the head of the girl because her hair was matted with cat urine.

Their lack of attention to the most primitive needs of the baby girl apparently didn’t detract from their ability to not take care of the little boy at the same time:

Her brother had to be treated for starvation and a genital infection. His lack of muscle development caused him difficulty in walking, investigators said.

I asked Ray yesterday, “is the World really getting worse? Or am I just hearing about it more quickly?” I would imagine the problem’s compounded by simply having more people around: we can’t avoid a significant increase in the number of dipshits.

Or is just because I’m on the North Side of 40?
